I am a twenty two year old, Senior . I am a sister, daughter, God-mommie, cousin, grand-daughter,best friend, and cousin.
There are many things that I want to do in life, but in my career I want to open my own detention home for juvenile females,
and eventually go back to my home town and open build and educated individuals on how I believe juvenile delinquency females
should be dealt with.

I am currently performing community service at the Durham County Youth Home. I have previous volunteered at a number
of daycare centers. I also volunteered at a battered and abused women’s shelter. I

Youth Home Counselor:
- Orients, observes, supervises, controls, counsels, and maintains headcount of juveniles in a detention and/or treatment
facility; enforces disciplinary rules and policies of the institution/facility; administers medication as prescribed. Participates
in individual, group, or crisis counseling.
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates work projects, recreation, and leisure activities for juvenile detainees; ensures juveniles
complete activities within allotted timeframes.
- Observes and writes reports on the attitude, behavior, and adjustment of juvenile detainees; calculates intervals at which
suicidal juveniles should be observed; and enters pertinent narrative and statistical information into computer programs.
- Observes juvenile detainees during showers in order to ensure hygiene and security; supervises juveniles in performing
laundry duties.
- Receives and releases juveniles; may make intake and release decisions; supervises visits between parents and juveniles;
supervises juveniles who are on probation and living at home.
- Physically restrains assaultive juveniles; secures and transports detained juveniles.
- Occasionally assists in the routine preparation and serving of meals.
- May train and guide extra-help employees and volunteers.
- May act as officer in charge of a shift as needed.

- Participates in structured on-the-job training programs to understand unit functions, procedures, and regulations.
